Reynolds Field Station’s leaders provide leadership and support to Friends of Field Camps, a national alliance of professional societies and foundations, government agencies, geoscience faculty, and industry partners taking coordinated action to help geoscience field camps and field education in the US survive and thrive.
Friends of Field Camps (FOFC) was launched from a Trustee Associates meeting of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) in April of 2025. Both A-Lan Reynolds and Mark Leonard, who are on the Board of Directors for RFS are AAPG Trustee Associates. We co-lead this tremendous organization that is taking actions to help students find field camps and scholarships, and help field camp directors and faculty solve the many challenges facing geoscience field camps today. We are joined by over 50 volunteers from 15 professional and government organizations, 5 companies and 4 universities, all of whom share a passion for geoscience field education.
We encourage you to explore the new Friends of Field Camps website, and we are featuring a summary page about the organization on our own RFS website because we are committed to and actively support its mission.
